(a portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2014 inspired by Jodi's 52 Project)
Oh... blissful weekend. Finally,
finally... cooler!
My
favourite kind of days: soft grey skies and muted greens in the garden,
as gentle rain fell. Cool enough for bacon and eggs and sauteed
potatoes for breakfast, cool enough for the girls to wear cardigans,
cool enough for casserole. Indoor days, pajama days, with dinner ready
early. On Saturday afternoon, I stopped and let myself drink in the
perfectness of it all. With one hour until dinner, the room was already
dark, the lamps on, soft rain on the roof, Spunky Monkey with his Daddy
at the kitchen table, Lego in the making, Miss Moo Moo in a bubble bath
with candles. Quiet and still and peaceful. One of those rare moments
when you
notice, and say to yourself with a smile, "Yes, this is exactly how life is suppose to be."
On Sunday, at the same time, the sun peaked out of the clouds for just
an hour. The weekend ended with a relaxing bike right around the lake.
The cooling and blustery breeze, at times, adjusting our course, as the
little ones struggled to keep upright as they peddled.
Still raining now, the leaves outside are dancing in the wind. Happy days.
