At our house....

The rain continued over the weekend, leaving us with little else to do but hang out at home.

Here's how we spent our Sunday:

• we made christmas decorations out of modelling clay
• I cooked a large pot of lentil and chickpea soup
• we made rum balls
• Mr Moo's brother came for a visit.
• we baked our first batch of christmas cookies, date and orange cookies
• we played board games
• we splashed in puddles
• at lunchtime, we broke up our home day by going to mum's for pizza
• the kids made boats and cubbie houses out of mattresses, pillows and blankets
• the kids painted their old sandpit Tonka trucks
• I sang soft christmas carols to sleepy children in their beds

But soon after bedtime, Spunky Monkey snuck out. "Please can I sleep on the lounge" (it had been turned it to a boat) There was a bit of no, please, no, please, no. pleeeese! that went on for 5 minutes before I said, "OK, but it's our secret!" Mr Moo was working in the office and would be in there all night. Miss Moo Moo was already alseep and I was heading off to bed for an early night. He was so excited and tip-toed back to his bedroom to collect his blanket and pillow, if I spoke he said, "Shhhh, Mum, we don't want anyone to hear us" I tucked him in and within minutes he was fast asleep with a little smile on his face.

Happy at the secret that we shared, I went off happily to bed too.

Raining - two - mens clothes

I love Toast, and was excited to see the launch of it's menswear range a month or so ago. I don't talk much about the boys on my blog. I guess that's because it's my girly space. But there are men in my life and I would love to see a particular someone (yes, Mr Moo I'm talking about you) rugged up in something like this, on a rainy day like today.

Raining - one - girls clothes

The last couple of days, we have had beautiful weather. Some people even complained that it was too hot. And then today.....it was raining cats and dogs!

And while it wasn't exactly cold, it did seem perfect for some clothes I have seen on line lately.

As we walked along the street, Miss Moo Moo took full advantage of the puddles. With gumboots on and umbrella in hand, she splish-sploshed her way up the hill from the shops to our car.

It reminded me so much, of some of Mandy's characters enjoying the rain. And made me think once again, of this delightful outfit, new from the Belle and Boo clothing line. I love, love, love that it is reversible and love that it also comes in Miss Moo Moo's size.

You can see more beautiful photos of this range here.

At my house.....

This weekend has been lovely stay-at-home weather.

With lots of rain, we mostly hung out with Poppy and Tiya Ning, eating soup and drinking tea. The boys watched a bit of the Bathurst 1000 and had a quick walk in between downpours. The girls talked craft, books and food. There was also reading, board games, audio books (Fantastic Mr Fox), craft, puzzles, drawing, riding bikes in the garage, long bubble baths (the kids, not me, unfortunately) and ABC kids.

And.... No cooking.

On Friday night, Mr Moo and I went out for a belated anniversary dinner. We went here and ate amazing food with amazing service. Even the torrential rain could not put a damper on a lovely night. See Pitchfork's full menu here. We ate this:

Prawn stuffed zucchini flowers, rocket and aioli
Crispy skinned duck, asparagus, roast pumpkin, goats cheese, honey pine nut salad
Mixed leaf salad, apple balsamic dressing
Hot soft centered chocolate pudding, hazelnut praline ice-cream
Espresso brulee, choc amaretti biscuit ice-cream

With a good bottle of red wine, that was a gift and a couple of perfect macchiato's to finish off.

Then on Saturday night, we went to the club, our usual thing when Dad is here for the weekend. Here, we ate, as usual, their amazing roasted pork belly. Yummo!
