Birthday craft

After the adventures of the last few days, I had completely forgotten to show you the gift I had made for my cousin's birthday.

Inspired, once again by Amanda, I made this simple fabric and embroidery wall hanging. Seven flowers for the members of Karen's special family and fabric and thread chosen to match her home.

I also forgot to mention, my children's excitement at our unexpected farm stay. I think that they had thought that Christmas had come early.

They were so happy playing with their cousins. They were in the cubie, down at the chicken coop, in the sandpit, playing dress-ups, playing playdough, sharing countdown calender chocolates, chasing the chickens, on the swings, on the see-saw, up at the shed, down at the tennis court, collecting eggs, wandering around the paddock, eating tomatoes from the vine, patting the quails, bouncing on the trampoline, playing with new toys and eating ice-cream with chocolate topping.

They didn't want to come home.

A nice surprise

Yesterday, my aunt came over to borrow my over-locker. I had completely forgotten that she was coming. She came bearing unexpected gifts. A pile of vintage fabric, wool and little thrifted rag doll for Miss Moo Moo. I don't know what I'll do with the fabric yet, it's been added to my stash.

I love the pink.

Thanks Nanny Marjie, you always know that fabric makes me happy.

Vintage fabric - yes please

On Saturday morning on our way to the farm, I couldn't resist a quick 5 minute stop at our local church jumble sale. You know how I love a good church jumble sale.

I spent $4:75 and needed Mr Moo to help me carry out my purchases to the car. These are just some of the fabrics I picked up for a song. I also got a very large pile of books. I guess you are not surprised. More fantastic vintage childrens books, a huge pile of Real Living magazines and a couple of really good 10 cents cookbooks. And a cute, french juice jug for 20 cents.

Imagine what could have happened if I had; half an hour, $10.oo and no husband and kids with me!
