Thrifted goodness

I find it almost impossible to leave a jug on the shelf, this one was $1.00, of course it was coming home with me.

New/old sheets - hooray! I haven't found any sheets since we went on this fun holiday.

I love this tea strainer, $2.00 - perfect for girly tea parties

Some new/old fabric for Miss Moo Moo, I can see some very pretty flannelette nighties this winter.

And some fabric for me. I hope that there will be enough of the black and white to make a summer dress and that small supper cloth on top, is also headed for a nice new top for me.

A new crocheted blanket for Miss Moo Moo's room. Single bed size. $4.00.

Did I say that I was going have a stay at home week? Hmmm. Well that just didn't happen.

With grand plans of baking and sorting out my wardrobe pushed to the side, I instead found myself out and about most days. It was strange to have a week like this, I am such a homebody, but it was fun. I met friends for coffee and shopping days, we had some very fun playdates with very fun new friends, we went out for dinner and we met a very sweet, very new, little baby girl.

Oh...and I even did some exercise!

With all of this driving about, I found myself passing some different op shops. Alone, with my monkey op shoppers back to school, I found that I, perhaps, went a little crazy. These are my finds from Wednesday's shopping spree. Yesterday's shopping is still sitting in bags in the car - some new winter sheets for Miss Moo Moo, amongst my many new finds.

And these: $3.00 each, I thought I would put them in a quilt. But now that they are home, the frames don't look so bad. Now, if I could just find a bare section of wall to hang them? Not sure what to do? but love them!

Vintage linens

I hadn't been able to find any vintage sheets in my local op shops for months. I admit, I was hoping to find something new on my travels interstate.



However nothing could have prepared me for the bounty I came home with. In fact, when I laid it all out I felt a little giddy. So much! Too much?

18 sheets and 14 pillowcases.

While there were many bargains to be had, I must also thank Mrs Gooseberry, who gave me some of her stash. Thank-you, thank-you.




Also uncovered in the linen section of the many op shops I visited, were:

3 doilies
3 table runners
1 set of place mats
1 set of napkins

1 souvenir tea towel
3 tablecloths



and 1 pot holder. Love this.

More flowers please

I realised that I need to get some more flowers into my garden when I saw this gorgeous little bee trying to pollinate the purple flowers of my vintage sheet.

It broke my heart to see her go up and down an entire row of these lavender coloured flowers, (favoured by bees) never stirring as I brushed past and hung an entire second load of washing on the line.

As I placed my last peg, she gave a little buzz of frustration and flew off. Hopefully she found her way to the new blooms of our 'yesterday, today and tomorrow' bush on the other side of the house.

Two posts in one day! Yes, making up for yesterday. I'm feeling so much better and this little bee was too cute to not share straight away. 

My flea market finds....

I seem to have hit the 'vintage sheet jackpot' over the last couple of weeks. On just two different thrifting days here are the latest additions to my vintage sheet stash.







15 pillowcases and 7 sheets, total cost $12.00.



Included in that price was a vintage bunny cot sheet - I'm thinking Easter pillowcases here.



And two tiny pillowcases made from this vintage Australian/Christmas cotton.

Delightful.

Flea market finds...

Part two: pretty and girly

A strawberry and peppermint checked wool blanket for Miss Moo Moo's bed in excellent condition, just $7.00







Three doilies, a vintage cot sheet and a vintage pillowcase all 50 cents each. And a net curtain (underneath) for $3.00, to be turned in to eco fruit bags.



A single vintage sheet and another net curtain to be used as a cover over food, both $2.00 each.



Three metres of this beautiful cotton fabric - $3.00. I can see a simple summer dress made out of this one.

Flea market finds...

This week the op shop came to me. My aunt rang to say she had something for me, she is a Salvo's volunteer. I was ecstatic to find she had four sets of vintage sheets and a shoebox full of embroidery thread.

Happy days!



Not sure what to do with the sheets, I am already using one for our afternoon tea tablecloth. On Friday afternoon we made jam tarts filled with homemade plum and peach jam. As you can see, my two little monkeys could not wait for me to take the picture.





The jam tarts recipe is from another op shop find from years ago. At just 20 cents, this Fifi's World Magazine has been well worth it.

Flea market finds...

I am wanting to make a quilt (yes, my first quilt) from vintage sheets. I probably already have enough to make it, but I am always on the lookout. This week I found these sheets at a local op shop. I didn't realise until I had got them home that they were both sets. It seems a waste to cut them up, so I have decided that Miss Moo Moo can have them for her bed - for now anyway.



She was thrilled and as soon as I washed them, I made up her bed. Here is Betty, testing them out.
