A word on following

You may have noticed, if you are a regular reader of my blog that I like to welcome my new followers and add their blog to my side bar.

You have taken the time, perhaps, even put the kettle first, to sit and read what I have been up too. So to me, it is no different to welcoming you into my home, because in a way, I have.

But...who could of thought that I would have over 90 followers. My goodness!

So far, this year has been busy. I see that many other people are busy too. Perhaps it is just the adjustment to new schedules or trying to accomplish new goals, but I am finding it hard to get to this space right now. No, I am not going to stop blogging. But, I can no longer take the time to welcome all of my new followers personally. I will try to add you to my side bar when I get a chance. Please don't be offended if I don't.

I will have noticed and I am so very grateful that you have stopped by.

As for me following others? Due to very limited time on the computer of late, I find myself skipping here and dashing there, enjoying your pictures and being inspired by your words. I haven't even being commenting, it's hard, with a piece of toast in one hand and a cup of hot tea in the other. (and someone yelling Muuuummm!)

Oh, I almost forgot.... Welcome to my newest followers :)

The beautiful illustration above is by Mandy (who you know I looove) for Edurelief. Have a look at their website. Their organisation is all about breaking the cycle of poverty by providing education and schools for children. I'm off to read more now, to see what I can do to help.

More about Mummy's

We have been doing heaps of drawing at our house recently. I love it, I will try not to bore you with too much of it, but I thought that these were something special.

Last night we gave the kids some card and asked them each to draw a picture for their Uncle's birthday, which is today. I was preparing dinner but I was kept up to date with progress reports.

These three are by Miss Moo Moo.

With Miss Moo Moo, my second child, I had an all natural water birth.

This picture depicts Spunky Monkey's birth. My first child, he was breached with the cord wrapped around his neck, so he was born by c-section.



This is a happy mummy, all sewn up.

I don't know why this was the theme for her birthday card drawings. Maybe because on their birthdays, I always tell them about their births, and how each of their births were different.

We didn't tell Uncle JJ what the story behind Miss Moo Moo's pictures was. However Spunky Monkey explained to him in great detail, all about his drawing of a bird who's eye had popped out onto the ground.

I don't think you really want to see that one!

Totally unrelated - right now as I write this, Miss Moo Moo is in the playroom singing a made up song about 'carpet burns' to the tune of the song, "Watermelon", by Justine Clarke. I am laughing so much I am crying - tears of pure joy.

I'm grateful for...

Today, I am grateful for my Mum.

I know, it is a little bit of a cliche. Which is why I haven't written about this before now.

So many times I have wanted to just say a BIG THANK-YOU to my Mum. For always being there.

Because often, I just forget to say it.

At the moment Mum is on the other side of the world, By day two, I realised how very much I rely on her. I am missing our two plus a day, phones calls. I can always find her at the other end of the phone to tell good news, bad news, funny news, my bright ideas, my hopes, my dreams, things that are frustrating me, things that I are worrying me and to ask for good old fashioned Mum advice.

I do not take this for granted. I know how incredibly lucky I am to have this special bond.

So Mum, if you are in Spain reading this.

We should listen to Lady Ga Ga

I must have music with dinner.

Every night Miss Moo Moo will ask me the name of who is singing. I tell her the artists name, as if she is a friend, someone we know. Sarah, Katie, Melody, Diana, Ella.

Last night I was playing a compilation CD and when she asked me, I could not remember the singers name. Spunky Monkey piped up and said, "it is Lady Ga Ga"

I couldn't believe it. We don't listen to, or watch, main stream music in our house. How did he know who Lady Ga Ga was? He then went on to tell me that the girls at school had been telling him all about Lady Ga Ga and her music.

To me, this was just another small reminder that my son is venturing out in to a bigger world now. A world where others will help to choose his path. I was told by his Kindergarten teacher a couple of years ago. "By six, you will have lost him" I have never forgotten her words. They seem very real now, as he looks to his father as his main role model. All I can do is just love him to death and be there to guide him.

Yes, guide him to be a lover of folk and jazz!

Sending love in a softie

More softies have been arriving for the Queensland Flood Appeal Dolly Drive.



Thank-you Heather (from Grandma's sewing group) For these three beautiful dolls. Such lovely fabrics and so soft. Perfect for snuggling.



And lets not forget our Kiwi friends and the devastating earthquake in Christchurch. So many lives lost, so incredibly tragic.
