Lets celebrate!

It was on New Years Day this year (almost one year ago) that I officially started this blog. There are some days that I think I might actually be addicted to blogging and other days that I want to stop. I have often asked myself "why am I blogging?" and have been asked this by others. The answer is the same as it was a year ago. It just feels like the right thing to be doing right now. I don't know where it will take me, but at the moment it looks like it is going to take me into the new year. Another year of new goals, more memories, new challenges and more inspriration.

Wishing you all a happy and festive New Years Eve. Whatever you are doing I hope that there will be champagne and music.

Stay safe. See you in twenty eleven.

Merry Christmas to all

It's late, I'm tired, but blissfully so.

We have been busy, as I'm sure you have too. But lovely busy, happy and merry busy, family busy.

Laughter and joy and already too much food!

The dishes are done, the washing in on. The children and our guests are already in bed.

Santa has been. He has filled the stockings and placed his presents under the under tree. He has eaten his rum balls and drank his milk. The reindeer's have eaten their food and drunk their water. It looks like my work here is done. So I'm off to look at my twinkling christmas tree one more time. Alone and in silence. To savour the magic that I wish I could bottle.

Merry Christmas dear readers, to you and your families. I wish you a happy and safe festive season.

"Merry christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

I'm grateful for...

Today I am grateful for 'thank-you's'

I almost teared up when Spunky Monkey's prep teacher handed me a small gift yesterday. It was so unexpected. It was to say 'thank-you' for being a 'mummy helper' throughout the year. Honestly, I had been feeling a little guilty for not being more involved. However, it became obvious to me, that what seemed like a little bit to me was a lot to someone else.

So I will share this quote with you again:

"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do little" - Edmund Burke

As I write, I am enjoying my gift. Tea in my new cup, that was filled with santa chocolates, and a handful of different teas.

Shhh.... don't tell anyone, but I'm also eating a santa chocolate too. I haven't even had breakfast yet.

I'd like to also welcome my newest follower, 'Maxabella loves', for who I am also grateful for:)

Go to her blog now to see what other people are grateful for today.

Santa's little helper

Who can believe it? Spunky Monkey's first year of school has finished. Yesterday was his last day of Prep, but Thursday was his official break-up day. It was a really fun day, Miss Moo Moo and I went in to help for half the day. There was a picnic lunch to share (thanks mum's), party games were played and gifts were given. Rum balls for the teachers and candy canes for the kids. I'm not a big fan of candy canes in the house at christmas time, but you weren't anybody, if you weren't giving out candy cane's at school this year.

I told Spunky Monkey I would make a little bag to take the candy canes to school in. It would say 'Santa's Little Helper'.

"Mum, you know the kids in my class can't read" he said very matter of fact. I made it any way.

I used these A4 printable fabric sheets, for one side of the bag. I bought mine from my local patchwork store. I scanned this vintage card, added the words and printed, easy.

Then on the other side, I used this japanese christmas fabric left over from some projects last year.

I was very proud of my efforts, whipped up before school. But in the end, the bag was left in the car. I asked Spunky Monkey, was it not cool enough? He was so diplomatic in his answer.

"I really like it Mum, it's just that I don't want to take it in today."

Ah well, perhaps Miss Moo will use it next year. I had fun making it and happy to have a new love - printing fabric sheets.
